International Netball Federation signs agreement with FISU

The INF has consolidated its partnership with FISU, the International University Sports Federation, by signing a collaboration agreement at the recent Sport Accord Convention held in Belek, Turkey.

INF President, the Hon. Molly Rhone, OJ, CD, signed the agreement with Eric Saintrond, Secretary General/CEO of FISU, (pictured above), demonstrating  international netball’s commitment to ensuring student netball is given the best platform for competing on the world stage.

FISU is responsible for the organisation and governance of worldwide competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 28. It was founded in 1949 as the world governing body of national university sports organisations and currently has 167 member associations from five continents.  It stages its events every two years, including two Universiades (summer and winter) and 32 World University Championships.

Great Britain took gold in the inaugural World University Netball Championships held in Cape Town in 2012, in a thrilling final with the host nation, South Africa.  The next World University Netball Championships will be held in Miami, USA, in 2016.

Molly Rhone says:  “We are delighted to be collaborating with FISU and look forward to working closely with them across all aspects of our game to develop and deliver excellent competition opportunities for students worldwide.”
